Pikey Peak Trek is a short trek that allows you to enjoy the best views of Mt. Everest in just a week’s time frame. Pikey Danda in Ramechhap district of Nepal is one of the best viewpoints to witness the panoramic views of mountains that includes the mighty – Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world. It is not only popular for the mountain views but for the sunrise/ sunset views along with lush valleys all around. The route to Pikey Danda is a newly established trekking route that goes through some charming Sherpa settlements. The trail is less crowded but the alluring views of mountains that this place offers is beyond any words of description. The views of mighty mountains like Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu, etc. is sure to awe your heart with its magnificence.  

This trek gaining a lot of positive reviews lately. Stunning views of Dhaulagiri to its west, Mt. Kanchenjunga to the east with Mt Everest in just five to six days’ time period has made this place the best choice for short trips to Everest region. The name – Pikey is named after local Sherpa clan deity that represents sky over the peaks. In the monsoon season, the local Sherpa people worship their clan deity by observing various rituals with the help of monks. Generally, the local people hike up to Pikey Dada and hang colorful prayer flags on the top of the peak.

Pikey Peak Trek starts with a wonderful drive from Kathmandu city to Junbesi. From Junbesi, the trek follows a scenic trail that passes alpine forests, small settlements, and pastures with beautiful views of the Himalayas on the sight. we pass Lamjura and head towards Pikey Peak. As we reach the top of the peak, the raw appeal of towering mountains unfolds right before us. You will be blessed with some breathtaking views of mountains that rise above the heights of eight thousand. Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Best season for Pikey Peak Trek
Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May) are the best time for Pikey Peak Trek. During this time, the visibility is and weather is dry that makes trekking easier. In spring, you will be blessed with the vibrancy of colorful flower blossom. Monsoon is wet and slippery with low visibility and winter is too cold with thick snow that makes walking difficult, hence not recommended for Pikey Peak Trek.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive in Tribhuwan International airport

Welcome to Nepal. A representative from Eye on Himalaya Treks and Expedition P. Ltd will welcome you at the airport and transfer to a hotel in Kathmandu. For the remaining time, you can rest at your hotel and make yourself with the new environment. Tonight at Kathmandu.

Day 2 : Kathmandu sightseeing and trek preparation

Today, as a part of your sightseeing day tour, you will be driven to different UNESCO listed heritage sites around Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath temple, and Boudhanath stupa are included in today’s day tour. If you need anything for your climbing journey ahead, you can buy some last-minute items today. You can also utilize this day for trek preparation purposes. Tonight at Kathmandu.

Day 3 : Drive to Dhap

Today, we set out for a long drive to Dhap, it takes us around seven to eight hours to reach to Dhap. During the drive, we pass some wonderful landscapes full of greenery and pristinely environment. upon arrival, we stay at a guesthouse enjoying the warm hospitality of locals. Tonight at Dhap.

Day 4 : Trek to Jhapre

It’s an easy day hike today. After breakfast, we start walking through an alluring trail that passes lush hills, charming local villages and rural lifestyle to the village of Jhapre. We walk for around five hours today enjoying the fascinating views of rural Nepal. Tonight at Jhapre.

Day 5 : Trek to Pikey Base Camp

Leaving Jhapre, we climb up steep uphill to the Pikey Peak Base Camp. We climb up the stone staircases and pass various local villages on the way in the backdrop of beautiful Pikey Danda. The walk to the base camp is an enriching experience where we will be able to interact with locals and encounter some wildlife if lucky. It takes us around five hours to reach the base camp. Day 6 : Hike to Pikey Peak and trek to Jase Bhanjyang

Early in the morning, we walk uphill towards the summit of Pikey Peak. as we move ahead, we will be rewarded with some awesome views of pristinely environment and wild mountains. It takes around two hours for us to reach the summit of the peak. From the peak, we will be blessed with some inspiring views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Dhaulagiri and many more. From the top, we descend down to Jase Bhanjyang enjoying the astounding views of mountains in the backdrop. Tonight at Jase Bhanjyang.

Day 7 : Hike to Junbesi

After breakfast in Jase Bhanjyang, we continue our walk towards Junbesi. We pass various Sherpa settlements on our way to Junbesi village. On the way to the village, we can notice colorful prayer flags, prayer wheels and prayer walls that give us the vibes of Buddhism religion. Upon arrival, we visit a popular Junbesi monastery in the village. Tonight at Junbesi.

Day 8 : Trek to Salleri

Today, we leave Junbesi and head towards a popular Sherpa village known as Salleri. Salleri is around four to five hours walk from Junbesi. We descend down an easy and scenic path decorated with colorful prayer flags and prayer wheels. We can even notice some stone walls with mantras engraved in it. Tonight at Salleri.

Day 9 : Drive back to Kathmandu

Today, we conclude our trekking journey and catch a vehicle that will drive us back to the capital city of Kathmandu. in around eight to nine hours, we will find ourselves at Kathmandu. You will be transferred to your hotel room in Kathmandu. Tonight at Kathmandu.

Day 10 : Departure
