Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking is a beautiful walk to an outstanding hill station near the capital city of Kathmandu. Nagarkot at an altitude of 2195 meters above sea level is a peaceful place that offers some spectacular views of lush hills and gigantic mountains around it. It is a popular viewpoint near Kathmandu where one can enjoy some panoramic views of mountains. It’s not just popular for the mountain views but for the sunrise/ sunset views. Watching the golden rays of sun fall over the snow-clad mountains with the melodious sound of birds chirping is indeed a meditation to soothe your mind, heart, and soul. The panoramic views of mountains that can be seen from Nagarkot extend from Dhaulagiri in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east. Even the world’s highest mountain- the mighty Everest is visible from this place.

Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking starts with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. From Sundarijal, we follow stone-paved stairs and enter into Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. We pass the watershed and ascend up along the forested area for around three hours to open up to a flat land from where we can enjoy some incredible views of mountains. Then we descend down to Chisapani with breathtaking views of mountains to our left. From Chisapani, we can enjoy some magnificent views of the mountains. leaving Chisapani, we follow a forested trail and villages that take us to Nagarkot. We conclude our hike with drive back to Kathmandu from Nagarkot.

Trip Itinerary

Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel for a scenic drive towards Sundarijal. Sundarijal is the commencement point of our Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking. From Sundarijal, we follow a trail that climbs up through stone-paved staircases to the Sundarijal watershed. As we move ahead, we enter into the Shivapuri watershed and Wildlife Conservation area. A permit is required to enter this area. Following the trail, we climb up for around three hours to open up to a flat land. As soon as we open up on the flat land, we get the first glimpse of mountains. Then we drop down the trail enjoying the close-up views of snow-clad mountains on our left side. We continue till we reach Chisapani. Tonight at Chisapani.

We wake up early to catch the sunrise views amidst the mountains from Chisapani. Chisapani is also a vantage point that offers some close-up views of mountains and sunrise/ sunset views. After breakfast at the hotel, we continue through a forested area to Nagarkot. We walk a few hours along with the dense forests full of trees, wild ferns, and mosses. If lucky, we may encounter some wildlife. As we reach an army camp, we divert from the forested area to the lush hills and charming villages, we walk pass the village up and down to Nagarkot. As we reach Nagarkot, we walk up to view tower to catch some wonderful views of sunset and mountains. Tonight at Nagarkot.

Early in the morning, we wake up to catch the beautiful sunrise amidst the panorama of snow-clad mountains. it’s truly a reviving experience to watch mountains and a golden sunrise. After beholding the wonderful views of mountains from the view tower, we walk back to the hotel from breakfast. After breakfast, we explore the place for a while and drive back to Kathmandu.
