Kathmandu City Tour is all about a wonderful day tour around the lively city of Kathmandu. Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal reflects the glorious history of Nepal that dates back to two thousand years. A city is a living form of Nepalese art, culture, and history. The palaces of the medieval period, ancient temples, Buddhist stupas, and monuments are the major attractions that enhance the glory of this place. Also regarded as the city of god and goddesses, you will find temples in every corner of the city. In the medieval period, Kathmandu used to be a separate state with its own ruler. The state was then reigned by the Malla kings. In Nepalese history, Malla kings are known for their rich taste in art and architecture. They're fine taste in art is reflected in the palaces, temples built in that period. The wooden carvings, metal carving and stone sculptures of the medieval period are the treasures that the city beholds. 

Kathmandu Durbar Square lies in the heart of the city and is one of the major attractions of the Kathmandu city tour. the durbar square is actually a complex that consists of palaces, temples, and courtyards. The main palace has now been turned into a museum that treasures some ancient monuments. The wooden carvings in windows and pillars of the palaces are fascinating. So are the metal sculptures, paintings and stone sculptures. The beauty of the complex was not hidden to the world hence was included in the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. Nepal has ten UNESCO listed world heritage sites. Amongst these ten heritage sites, Kathmandu has seven. Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Changunarayan temple, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath temple, and Boudhanath temple are the seven heritage sites in Kathmandu city.

Swayambhunath stupa is a beautiful Buddhist stupa that lies on a hilltop and offers some wonderful views of the entire Kathmandu valley. Pashupatinath is an old Hindu temple that holds high religious value amongst the Hindu pilgrims. It’s a temple of Lord Shiva where you can observe old statues, Hindu cremation site, and interesting Sadhus in the temple premises. Boudhanath stupa, on the other hand, is a huge stupa placed on a three-layered Mandela. Like other stupas, it has a big round dome with golden Buddha eyed spire placed on top. Changunarayan is also an old temple of Lord Vishnu on a top of the hill above Bhaktapur.

Welcome to Nepal. A representative from Eye on Himalaya Treks and Expedition P. Ltd will welcome you at the airport and transfer to a hotel in Kathmandu. For the remaining time, you can rest at your hotel and make yourself with the new environment. Tonight at Kathmandu

Today, as a part of your sightseeing day tour, you will be driven to different UNESCO listed heritage sites around Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath temple, and Boudhanath stupa are the major highlights of this day. At first, we head to Kathmandu Durbar Square that lies in the heart of Kathmandu. It is an ancient artistic palace that is quite similar to that of the palace in Bhaktapur. It is also a huge complex that comprises of palace, temples, and courtyards. The entire palace is beautifully crafted with wooden, metal and stone carvings. From the durbar square, we head towards Swayambhunath stupa which is a Buddhist stupa that lies on a hilltop. From the top, we can get a complete view of Kathmandu city. the stupa is a big white dome with Buddha eyes on golden spire on all sides. Next, the tour takes us to Pashupatinath temple which is an old Hindu temple in Nepal. Finally, the tour concludes in Boudhanath stupa which is a huge stupa placed upon a three-layered mandala. In the morning, after breakfast, you will be driven to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. It is an ancient palace of Malla kings that is wonderfully crafted with various forms of art and architecture. It is actually a huge complex that comprises of palace, temples, and courtyards, the main palace has now been turned into a museum. Here, you can explore the wonderful wooden carvings, metal works, stone carving and historical monuments of Nepal. After exploring the durbar square, we drive to Nagarkot which is a popular hill station near Kathmandu known for some excellent mountain views. Tonight at Nagarkot.

We wake up early in the morning to catch the morning sunrise over the mountains from view tower in Nagarkot. The golden sun rays over the snow-clad mountains is truly a sensational view to soothe your heart and mind. After the impressive views, we return back to our hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we explore the surroundings and drive back to Kathmandu. On the way, we can visit Changu Narayan temple which is also one of the heritage sites in Nepal.
