Today, as a part of your sightseeing day tour, you will be driven to different UNESCO listed heritage sites around Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath temple, and Boudhanath stupa are included in today’s day tour. If you need anything for your climbing journey ahead, you can buy some last-minute items today. You can also utilize this day for trek preparation purposes. Tonight at Kathmandu
In the early morning, you will be transferred to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport to catch a flight to Lukla. It a 40 minutes’ flight accompanied by breathtaking views of snow clad mountains. At Lukla, we meet our other crew members and start walking along a forested area to Surke. We walk pass Pakhapani and ascend up via many traditional villages, jungles and hills to Paiya. From Paiya, we can enjoy some stunning views of Khatang, Knogde Ri,Tang Ragi Tu and many other peaks. From Paiya, we drop down the trail to cross a small wooden bridge. Leaving the bridge, we march ahead through a slippery path to Kari La hill (pass). As the path is slippery, it is requested to follow the trail carefully. We then cross the pass and head to a village. We walk pass the village and follow a trail that goes through dense forest of rhododendron and bamboo. Further, we walk along a scenic route applauding the views of Dudhkoshi river valley and Dudh kunda Himal to Pangkoma. Tonight at Pangkoma
Leaving Pangkoma, we follow a trail that descends down along a rock strewn path to a dense rhododendron forests. We walk pass mani walls and continue through hills and ridges to descend down to a village on the way. From the village, we can admire some glorifying views of south face of Mera peak and Naulekh peak. The trail goes zigzag along a forested area and descends to the village of Nigmsa. Tonight at Nigmsa
After breakfast in Nigmsa, we climb up steep along a narrow and sloppy mountain trail. The path is quite tough and tiring that goes along a landslide-prone area. We walk pass the forests of rhododendron and bamboo to drop down to a stream. From here, we again walk up straight through the forests of bamboo and rhododendron until we reach Chetrakhola. We stay here at the bank of river for the night. If lucky, one can encounter some wild species in the dense jungles today. Tonight at Chetrakhola
We wake up in the bank of Chetrakhola with musical sound of birds chirping. After breakfast, we wwalk up to a wonderful vantage point in Hinku valley. Here, we can applaud splendor of mountains and pristine environment around us. We follow a trail that goes straight along the forests of bamboo and rhododendron. It’s an adventurous walk through the forests full of wildlife. As we pass Ttashing Dingma, we come across some teahouses. We can rest for a while and continue our walk to a ridge of a river to get into Hinku valley. We continue with our walking journey until we reach Kothe. Tonight at Kothe
Today, we walk towards the ridge of Hinku Khola that lies in the shadows of Mera peak. We follow a trail to Gondishung which is a beautiful summer herders settlement in the west bank of Hinku Drangka. We enjoy our lunch here and walk pass Lungsumba gompa. The gompa is an ancient gompa, around 200 years old. At the gompa, we can see a rock that has been Mera peak scripted in it. We offer our sincere prayers in the gompa and walk ahead to Thagnang. Thangnang is a summer grazing area of yaks and sheep. The place has some primitive shops and lodges in it. Tonight at Tangnang
Today, we do not walk further and stay in Tangnang itself. This day is set aside for acclimatization. Hence, we walk up to Charpate Himal glacier which is around three hours hike up from Tangnang. Charpate Himal is a holy place for the Sherpa people residing in mountains. from this place, one can enjoy some close up views of Mera peak which is our ultimate trekking destination. After enjoying our day in Charpate Himal glacier, we walk down to Tangnang for overnight stay. Tonight at Tangnang
Today, we head towards Khare. Leaving Tangnang, we follow a lateral moraine of Dig glacier to reach Dig Kharka. The meadows of Dig Kharka offers some splendid views of Charpate Himal. We climb up the trail through the moraines to reach snout of Hinku Nup and Shar glaciers. From here, the trail climbs up more steeply to Khare. From Khare, one can enjoy some wonderful views of north face of Mera peak. Tonight at Khare
We leave Khare and walk through a trail full of rock boulders to Mera Base Camp. We have to walk for around three hours along a steep route to reach the base camp. Upon arrival, we set up our tents and warm up ourselves with few climbing tips and techniques. The climbing leader will help us with some climbing skills and tricks. After few hours of training, we have an option to walk to Mera La for some astounding views of surrounding mountainous terrain. Tonight at Mera Base Camp
From Mera Base Camp, we climb higher to Mera la and then to Mera High Camp. The path to High Camp goes through a rock strewn area that can be quite hazardous. During winter, while the path is covered with snow and there are chances of crevasses. We make our way to top of a rock band marked with a large cairn. As we reach the high camp, we enjoy the wonderful views of sunset and mountainous like Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho-oyu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Chamlung, Baruntse, etc. Tonight at High Camp
It’s our climbing day today. We wake up early in the morning at around 1 a.m. to prepare for climbing. By around 2:30, we have our breakfast and set up ropes and crampons. Then we follow our team leader along the ropes and climb up the Mera peak. If we are well acclimatized, then it may take around five to six hours for climbing. The main reason for climbing up early is to conquer the top before noon. Afternoon the weather on top tends to be windy. As we reach the top, we will be rewarded with some fascinating views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Chamlung, Katenga, Baruntse, etc. After conquering the top, we retrace our steps back to Khare. Tonight at Khare
Sometimes, climbing up the peak may not be suitable on Day 13 due to unfavorable weather conditions. Therefore, in case if we couldn’t climb up the peak in Day 13, we have set aside an extra day for climbing purposes. It’s just an extra day in case of necessity.
Today, we descend down to Hinku valley and continue our walk until we reach Kothe. It’s an interesting day walk with spectacular views of mountains in the backdrop. Tonight at Kothe
We follow the trail and climb up along the lush forested area in the west side of Hinku valley to get to Thuli Kharka. It’s an easy day walk along with the forests of rhododendron and bamboo. During the walk, we will be able to relish some amazing views of Mera peaks on our way to Thuli Kharka. Even from the Kharka, we will be able to get some splendid views of Mera peak. Leaving Thuli Kharka, we walk towards the Zatrwa La pass. We cross the pass enjoying some astounding views of Lukla valley, Mt. Cho Oyu, Kongde peak, Number Himal, Kusum Khangru and many other mountains. from the pass, we descend down to Chutanga and walk straight to the village of Lukla. Today, we catch an early flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be dropped at your hotel. You can relax at your hotel for the rest of the time. Tonight at Kathmandu
