Overview

Everest Panorama Trek is an opportunity to relish the close-up views of mighty Mt. Everest with other sky dominating mountains in the panorama. With this trek, you can get close to the mountains of the Everest region in the shortest time possible and in an easy way. Have you always wanted to be close to the world's highest mountain but were laid back due to constraint of time? If yes, then Everest Panorama Trek is an ideal trekking option for you. It is specially designed for those who are willing to opt for Everest Base Camp Trek but are laid back due to a lack of time and endurance capacity to sustain the rising elevation.

Everest Panorama Trek – a relatively short and easy trek to Everest region
Everest Panorama Trek is a short teahouse trekking experience that takes you to the Khumbu region of Nepal, the region that holds the pride of having the world’s highest mountain – Everest. Like all other treks to the Everest region, the Panorama trek starts with an incredible flight to Lukla. For the first-timers, it’s indeed a surprise. The flight landing on a narrow airstrip in such a dramatic location may accelerate your heartbeat but the spectacular views of mountains from the window seats will keep you at ease. From Lukla, we follow a path that drops down to the Dudhkoshi River and ascend up slowly to Phakding. We enter Sagarmatha National Park and traverse into a forested area to pass the villages of Monjo and Jorsale.

Moving ahead, we follow an undulating path up and down to Namche Bazaar. Namche is a popular town in the route and an only gateway to Everest. The town is quite crowded with narrow streets, people, shops, and traders transporting loads on a dzopkos. From Namche, we hike up to Everest view hotel that lies just above Namche. We can applaud some close-up views of mountains like Mt. Tawache, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Amadablam Mt. Cho-Oyu, etc. from here. Leaving Everest view hotel, we head towards the Tengboche Monastery. It is a spiritual center of the Khumbu region. Tengboche is not only popular for the monastery but the close-up views of mountains from the periphery is truly incredible. We can see the great Mt. Amadablam clear and close just above the monastery. We conclude our trek with a walk back to Lukla via Namche and Khumjung village.

Is Everest Panorama Trek worth it?
Yes, of course. Everest Panorama Trek allows you to relish the views of towering mountains in the Everest region. You can enjoy the majestic views of Mt. Tawache, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Amadablam Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Kangtega, etc. from very close. Also, you will be able to know more about Sherpa people, their culture and lifestyle. The hospitality of charming Sherpa people is really worth it.

Also, you can opt to visit Swayambhunath, which is also known as the monkey temple. The view from the hilltop is mesmerizing. You can not just see tourists and monks chanting prayers but also the prayer flags swiftly moving with the wind. The 25000 years old Stupa is worth the visit. Another similar Boudhanath is also a wonderful Buddhist Stupa which is surrounded by the Buddhist community residing there. The cultural segregation is easily visible in their lifestyle.

If you have ever heard about the hindus religion, then you might be familiar with the fact that Pashupatinath temple is regarded as one of the holiest places where Hindus flock in merriment and sorrow. Although tourists are not allowed inside the premise itself, you can excurse around the area nearby and get a glance of the Bagmati river and the “Aarati- ritual” in the evening.  After a day filled with  excursion, you can head back to your hotel and make preparations for the days to come.

This day officially begins your Everest Panorama Trek. You will head to the airport and take a domestic flight to Lukla Airport, which is regarded to be the most dangerous airports in the world. But keep in mind that the views from the 35-minute scenic flight are all worth it and unlike anything in the world. You will be landing at Lukla which is at an elevation of 2880m, so be prepared to feel the cold weather. After landing and grabbing something to eat, go ahead to Phakding. The topography of the Khumbu region will already begin growing onto you. You will pass through Choplung at the elevation of 2660m and then reach Nachi Pang. The mystical Kusum Kanguru will be on the backdrop throughout your hike. On the way, you can visit the Phakding Monastery on the western side. The bank of Dudh Koshi hosts various lodges.

A clear manifestation of the raw culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the Sherpa community is observed through this day’s trek, which will take you to the entrance of many trekking destinations in the Khumbu regon-Namche. You will pass through many rhododendron hills through quick descends and climbs to reach a forest of pine then down below the views of multicolored aluminum sheet covered settlement. Head towards the Sagarmatha National Park entrance Gate at Monjo.Monjo will then welcome you to head towards Jorsale on the way to Namche at the elevation of 3440m. You might feel a little tired due to the long days hike, but what Namche has to offer covers up for it.

Quickly on this day as you take rest at Namche, you realize that Namche has a lot to offer whether in terms of natural beauty or any other physical facility that you might require. The Namche Bazar has ATMs, Cyber Café, Restaurants, Tea Houses, and what not. But of course be mindful that the prices are higher than you might expect. You can check out the local mountaineering museum in the day. Further hike above the Namche village will offer you mesmerizing views of the mountains above 8000m. In the bazaar itself, you will find many fellow mountaineers and trekkers who are opting for different travel across the Everest Region.

On this day you will be moving towards Tengboche. Don’t be surprised by the many tourists you see on the way because most of the trekking trail in the Khumbu region follows through Tengboche. The trek that takes around 5 to 6 hours will introduce you to the famous Tengboche, which is a Tibet Buddhist Monastery and is home to the high priest. Opening at four o clock in the evening each day, you can take blessings from the Rinpoche and move ahead. The views of Everest, Nuptse, Kantaiga, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Cholatse, and Thamserku are offered throughout the trail. As the sun sets, head to a tea house in the area.

After the wonderful trek to Tengboche you will head back to Monjo. The adventure still follows you as you cross a suspension bridge and take a climb to the opposite side of the valley and down to Namche. As you descend the Namche Hill, you will cross the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi river and then reach a small settlement at Monjo. One of the quietest areas in the Khumu region, Monjo is the entrance and exit to the Sagarmatha National Park.

After a well-deserved sleep at Monjo, you will have breakfast and then head towards Lukla. The path the same that you had taken before, but the views can be changing as per the weather this day. You can admire the wild flora and fauna found on this rugged and cold land. Early on, you will walk along the east side of the Dudh Koshi river and take a final ascend to Lukla. You will quickly arrive at Lukla and head on to the nearby areas that offer the mesmerizing views of the majestic mountains. Since this is your last day in the Khumbu area, feel free to immerse yourself in the authentic culture and the way of life of the Sherpa Community as you sip some local drinks and eat authentic delicacies and dance to the beat of their drums.

You will be heading back to Kathmandu on this day through the Tenzing Hillary Airport. The scenic flight takes 35 minutes. Throughout the lovely flight, you can enjoy the views of the snow-covered mountains and slowly leave behind the rugged topography that was for the past week your playground. Our coordinates will pick you that the airport and will be transferred to your respective hotels. You can try the Thakali meal, Newari meal, and any other local delicacy.

Since the flight from Lukla to Kathmandu is highly prone to delays or cancellation due to the unpredictable weather change, this day has been set aside for contingency. So, if you arrive as scheduled, then you can enjoy this day to go on a sightseeing trip around the Kathmandu valley. You can visit the Changunarayan Temple at the hilltop or visit Nagarkot that offers views of Langtang on a clear day. Also, near Thamel, you can visit the Kesar Mahal or the Narayan Hiti museum which was once the palace of the kings of Nepal. If you find the trip exciting, then you can also extend your Nepal tour and add some excursions like to Chitwan or Pokhara. At night, enjoy at a local pub or go for a cultural show.
